Remember Them,  by Rabbi Jack Riemer

At the rising of the sun and at its going down
We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and the chill of winter
We remember them.
At the opening of the buds and the rebirth of spring
We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer
We remember them.
At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn
We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends
We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us,
As we remember them.

When we are weary and in need of strength We remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart We remember them.
When we have joy we crave to share We remember them.
When we have decisions that are difficult to make We remember them.
When we have achievements that are based on theirs We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us,
As we remember them.

First responder in New York on 9/11……….

Father Michael Judge was the first fatality of 9/11  ng the many hats Judge wore was as chaplain for the New York Fire Department. He was killed after going to the World Trade Center with some off-duty firefighters after the first plane hit.

Prayer for 9/11
Lord, take me where you want me to go.
Let me meet who you want me to meet.
Tell me what you want me to say,
And keep me out of your way.
It’s not my prayer. It’s a prayer that came from the Franciscan priest Father Mychal Judge, who was killed on 9/11 at the World Trade Center when he was ministering to a fallen firefighter.
Mychal Judge was a chaplain for the New York City Fire Department. His church, St. Francis of Assisi, was right across the street from the fire station Engine 1, Ladder 24 on West 31st Street, not far from  Guideposts editorial offices. He had printed the words of the prayer on a card to hand out to anyone who needed them.
On September 10, 2001, he called his fellow NYFD chaplain Everett Wabst of Staten Island for some more prayer cards. Father Mychal had run out of them. Wabst was driving into New York with the cards when he heard of the attack. Soon he learned about Father Mychal’s tragic death.
For the next 48 hours, Wabst counseled firefighters, survivors and first responders. And he used the prayer that came from one of the disaster’s first victims. They’re words that work any day of the year, but they seem particularly poignant for this day.
Lord, take me where you want me to go.
Let me meet who you want me to meet.
Tell me what you want me to say,
And keep me out of your way.

We almost got to stay another week!

We had a very inch day today!  We started the day at our neighborhood Starbucks.  We talked to our friend Bill for quite awhile.  He is funny and very smart .  Bill plays the stock market everyday while having his coffee at Starbucks!

We had an early dinner with Jerry.  We all like this restaurant on Coronado Island.  The island is also the home of Naval Air Station  and the Navy  Seals! Jerry ordered a Pastrami Sandwich and Vicki ordered the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich.  Everyone liked their choice!

It is always nice to see the San Diego from Coronado.  The skyline is nice and is not too much cement.
While we were waiting for our food we got to talking about staying here longer…yes!!! We will do it!  We will go home on the 1st.  I turned to Vicki and asked her if she was all right with the change in plans…..she was until I asked her…No, we can't do it.  We do not have enough medication….this was to be the first time in 7 years that we were going to extend our stay!  Boo Hiss!

I will drink to that!  Whatever THAT is!  Tonight I had 2 rum and cokes and for dinner I had sliders and onion rings!  It has been a long time since I have had onion rings and boy were they good!

After going home we continued to do our Army Wives binge!

I just happen to know where I can get 20 puppies like this.  Hmmm, let me think about this!

Be careful out there!

Memorial Day Weekend!

Today I am going to introduce you to the block by our house in which Starbucks resides.

But first of all I will introduce you to the village that Mary Lou grew up in.  This is Ocean Beach and I will call it a village.  M.L. lived there until she was in her 20's.  M.L. is one of the lucky ones…she never had to leave San Diego.  We did not know how lucky we were to live here!  When I moved to Idaho it took me 10 years to get over being homesick for San Diego!

This photo could be any beach in the world but it is not…it is here in our very own Ocean Beach

This is one of the stores.

I want to go here for lunch or dinner on Monday.  They have all kinds of interesting sausage sandwiches.

We talked to the owner of this cafe and the food they have sounds interesting.  I think it was some dishes from New Orleans.

It looks like some strange shops.  There was another bar….they invited us to go in …there was an antique store and several bookstores.

I think this is the one with the sausage sandwiches.

I don't remember what kind of food is here.  We will ask Jerry tomorrow and see what he knows.

Now this is our neighborhood Starbucks.  The photos above are taken on this block as you see it!
Have a good one!

Running around San Diego

Just thought I would do the regular blog so that I could post the few photos that I have taken!

Friday May 15th.  Had cocktails with Jerry and then we walked over to Jimmy Carters for dinner…Mexican, of course!

Thursday May 15th.  Decided we needed to go to the beach before all the holiday people arrive.  While standing on the board walk, taking this picture, a girl told us to look out past the breakers as there were 5 Dolphins and 1 was jumping in the air.  No, they are not in the picture but that is where they were

This is the boardwalk looking south.  Wen you walk on it you are taking our life in your own hands! One of the psychiatrist that I worked with had a house down there and lived right on the boardwalk.  We loved it when he threw a party!

This is the boardwalk looking north. You can see the pier with the little bungalows on it.

It was wonderful sitting outside and having lunch.  The people watching was good too!

Now, how do you like this table?  Pretty cool!

M.L.'s dog, Ginger, is the perfect size.  Guess I'll take her home!

Have a great weekend!
